VET AWARE is a European project that aims to strengthen the capacity of 3 organisations to recognise and prevent modern forms of addiction.
We want to support VET teachers, trainers, mentors and staff to become more resilient and better prepared to identify early warning signs and risky behaviours related to drugs, alcohol, gambling and gaming.
Through VET AWARE we will strengthen the supporting role of teachers, tutors and mentors through a holistic approach that combines non-formal learning, mentoring, coaching and change-management strategies to recognise and respond to early signs of addiction.
Our goal is to create safer, more supportive learning environments where young people can talk openly about risks and receive timely help.
The project involves partners from Ireland, Italy and Norway

This resource is designed for VET professionals, educators, trainers, mentors, and stakeholders, offering practical tools to better recognise early signs of addiction and prevent risky behaviours. Rather than focusing solely on the clinical dimension, we adopt a holistic and human-centred approach (non-formal learning, coaching, mentoring and change management), helping communities address addiction through education, awareness, and early intervention.

Interactive and inclusive events designed to bring together young people, stakeholders, VET organisations, schools, and the wider community in dynamic non-formal learning sessions.
These activities aim to raise awareness about addiction, both traditional and modern forms, while promoting early prevention through knowledge, dialogue, and empowerment.
Each event fosters community engagement, encourages active citizenship, and supports a collective commitment to addressing addiction as a shared social responsibility.

The first Exchange of Good Practice was the perfect way to kick-start our project. During the meeting, partners had the opportunity to connect, understand each other’s work, and begin exploring key themes such as mentoring and the early identification of risk behaviours. This session laid a strong foundation for collaboration and for the development of effective tools to support VET professionals in recognising early signs of addiction.
